Idea Lab – development of the existing R&D facilities of ML System
Description
The ML System company from Zaczernie near Rzeszów is engaged in searching for innovative construction solutions aimed at producing electricity from the sun. In the beginning, the company focused on developing the technology of traditional photovoltaic panels installed on buildings, and subsequently on facade solutions, including glass walls, sunblinds and skylights. The company managed to develop a technology, in which standard glass used in them is replaced with glass integrated with photovoltaic cells. Thus, glass facades are not only decorative elements, but they are also used for producing electricity. Recently, the company has been making investments in devices installed in Smart City facilities.
The project enabled the company to develop its Photovoltaic Research and Development Centre and to establish the Electronic Microcircuit Research Centre. Thanks to this, it is possible to test ideas which work in laboratory conditions and introduce them for mass production. And these are the ideas that are used in Smart City facilities (e.g. park lamps, light poles, car parking shelters). In the newly created Live Lab (an experimental laboratory), products are tested in conditions resembling natural ones. Thanks to this, the company is certain that they will work correctly, even when exposed to severe weather conditions. ‘We are continuously improving our products, both photovoltaic panels and electricity storage systems, so that everything works even when there is no sunlight,’ said Paweł Kwaśnicki, the Director of the Research and Development Centre.
Some of the highly technologically advanced devices kept in the laboratories are unique on a global scale. They include a drone with infrared activated cameras, 3D object measurement systems, a power analyser, module test sets and advanced design software. They are also used by other companies and research units carrying out their own research here.
