Extension and alteration of the building of the former primary school in Krowica Lasowa, including the development of the surroundings with the aim of establishing the Nursing Home

Although the Nursing Home in Krowica Lasowa in the Commune of Lubaczów has been operating since October 2018, it has already managed to gain a good reputation among the institutions of this kind in Poland. It is intended for chronically mentally ill people, suffering mainly from schizophrenia and depression. It is housed in a modern building with an original decor and neat and tidy surroundings. Its professional staff has managed to provide the residents with a truly homely atmosphere. This is favoured by the well-arranged space, double and triple rooms with bathrooms and common leisure and rehabilitation rooms, as well as customised care.

Our charges can visit their families, but they are always willing to come back. This gives us great satisfaction,’ emphasised Patrycja Mulawa, the Director of the Nursing Home.

Here, there is no time to get bored. The residents participate in art, manual and integration workshops, which help them to build their self-esteem. In the well-equipped physical activity room, they can do exercises adjusted to their capabilities, and also play football on a new pitch. In the hallway, there is a table tennis table, which is very popular among the residents. Apart from that, occasional and holiday parties, numerous sport event tours, artistic performances and integration events in other nursing homes are also organised.

It is very important for us to make every day interesting and bring something positive,' added Patrycja Mulawa.

The project has solved the problem of the lack of permanent housing facilities for chronically mentally ill inhabitants of the commune. Before, they were sent to establishments situated all over Poland, where most often they lived in less comfortable conditions and far from their families. Currently, the Nursing Home has 28 residents. The youngest one is 22, and the oldest one is 88. They can use the services of professional carers, trainers, a psychologist and a physical therapist.
